Kishan’s Masterclass Fires SRH into the IPL 2026 Playoffs

In a pulsating Monday night thriller at Chepauk, Sunrisers Hyderabad sealed their spot in the IPL 2026 playoffs with a 5-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings. The hero of the night was Ishan Kishan, whose 70 off 47 balls guided SRH home with an over to spare.

A Tricky Surface Sets the Tone
The Chepauk pitch played low and slow, making life difficult for both sides. CSK won the toss and elected to bat, but struggled to find fluency. Pat Cummins gave CSK the first blow by dismissing Sanju Samson for 27, and Sakib Hussain took the wicket of Urvil Patel as the hosts stumbled early. CSK ultimately posted 180/7 — competitive, but not quite commanding on that surface.
Klaasen and Kishan Take Control

SRH’s chase started nervy, but Heinrich Klaaselln changed the tempo with a fearless cameo. Klaasen later said he blocked his first couple of balls before telling himself he simply couldn’t play that way. When he fell, Kishan stepped up and took responsibility. Ishan scored a superb 70 off 47 balls, hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes. He was eventually dismissed going for a big hit at long-off, but by then the game was all but won.
Salil Arora and Smaran Ravichandran calmly finished the job, and Kishan was named Player of the Match for his brilliant knock. 

What  It Means ?

SRH’s win also took Gujarat Titans into the playoffs, while CSK finished their home leg with a loss. CSK are still mathematically alive for the final playoff spot, but their hopes are slim. Klaasen reclaimed the Orange Cap after the match, with Kishan and Abhishek also rising in the batting charts. 
As Cummins put it after the game — “The real stuff starts now.” SRH head into the knockouts in form. CSK will need a miracle.
